Historic Renovations

Stewart Construction has over thirty years of historic renovation experience, including residential and commercial projects.

The company has been contracted to do projects such as rebuilding original windows, replacing windows in replica styles, whole interior renovations, increasing interior usable space while retaining historic features. Stewart Construction has also completed additions to historic houses, that match the original house in all design features.

Stewart Construction has refinished the window frames and replaced the standard glass for wind-resistant glass in the historic DeSoto County courthouse. One of the main features of this building was the 20 foot wide, mahogany trimmed triple window on the third floor of the building. See pictures in our portfolio page under historic.

Probably the most unique historic renovation the company has done was the century-old, Fort Ogden Historic Cemetery. Hurricane Charley damaged the walls and gates surrounding the cemetery. The historic society contracted Stewart Construction to repair the walls and gates to their original condition. The company completed this by custom fabricating replacement parts that exactly matched the original.

Mark Stewart is a member of the Sebring Historic Preservation Council.

Stewart Construction owners, Mark and Madge Stewart have also been owner/operators of the Kenilworth Lodge for over twenty three years. It is a historic hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
